SXSW 2019

Making Your Technology Matter In a Public Crisis

Description:

When a gut-wrenching situation strikes, the overwhelming desire to help, can be just that, overwhelming. Headlines declaring that thousands of children have been separated from their parents and detained like prisoners or how millions in Puerto Rico continue to face life without power, can both inspire and paralyze us to take action. Yet, as tech professionals, we are sitting on a wealth of opportunity to use our employers' technology and expertise. Finding your company's specific way to contribute, not just money, but expertise, will empower not-for-profit organizations ready for to use technology to advance their causes (despite many knowing very little about technology.) Every company has a unique gift it can use to alleviate crisis situations. This workshop will help you find it.
